While this makes a great appetizer, it is also the perfect accompaniment to a spicy pasta dish or hearty soup. The green chilies add a little extra personality to warm, cheesy bread.

  1. 1 loaf French bread (baguette)
  2. 1 cup (2 sticks) Challenge Butter
  3. 4 ounces mild diced green chiles
  4. 1 cup monterey jack cheese, grated
  5. ¼ cup mayonnaise
  6. ½ teaspoon garlic powder

    Slice French bread into ¼-inch slices. Cream butter and mix with the other ingredients.

    Spread mixture evenly on the bread slices and place face up on a cookie sheet.

    Place under a broiler until bubbly.

REALLY good and really easy. Big hit at bunco last night. I used about 3/4 cup butter and it was plenty.
