Streusel Topped Apple Bread
An excellent way to enjoy your favorite kind of apple. Topped with a sweet walnut streusel, this bread is moist and naturally sweet. Experiment with the size of your chopped apple chunks to discover exactly how you like yours.

Streusel Topping
- ¼ cup (½ stick) Challenge Butter, softened
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- ¼ cup chopped walnuts
Bread
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoons baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup (1 stick) Challenge Butter, room temperature
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- ½ teaspoon vanilla
- ½ cup buttermilk
- 1¼ cups chopped apples
- ½ cup chopped walnuts
Streusel Topping

1Stir together brown sugar, cinnamon and flour. Add butter; blend with a fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in nuts. Set aside

1Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter a 9x5–inch loaf pan or line the pan with waxed or parchment paper.

2Whisk together flour, baking soda. and salt in a bowl and set aside.

3Cream butter; gradually add sugar and beat until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Add dry alternating with buttermilk and mix just until smooth. Fold in apples and nuts.

4Pour batter into a large (9X5-inch) loaf pan. Top with streusel mixture. Bake 50 minutes or until wooden toothpick inserted in center of bread comes out clean.
