Easy Baked French Toast

This super simple baked version of French toast frees you up to work on other breakfast dishes, finish getting ready for your day, or catch up on the morning's news and social buzz. It's practical and delicious.

  • 3 large eggs, beaten lightly
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 8 (one-inch) slices French or Italian bread
  • 2 Tablespoons sugar
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla
  • ¼ cup (½ stick) Challenge Unsalted Butter

    Preheat oven to 400°F.

    In a large flat dish, combine the eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon and vanilla. Let the bread soak in a single layer in the mixture for about two minutes. Turn it and let it soak until all the custard is absorbed.

    In a large flat baking dish (9×13-inch), melt the butter. Add the bread in a single layer.

    Bake for 15 minutes. Turn the bread over and bake 10 more minutes or until golden on both sides. Serve with a pat of Challenge Butter, maple syrup, powdered sugar, jam or fresh fruit.
